Patrida - Digital Printed Silk Square Scarf
Palaska, the cartridge box that was used in the Greek War of Independence, was usually decorated with symbolic images inspired by Ancient Greece and the Greek Myths depicting the dreams and hopes of a nation who was fighting for freedom.
In this contemporary composition is illustrated the images of two different palaskes the one depicting two mermaids carrying the vessel where is hidden the two headed eagle ; symbol of the Greek nation from Byzantine times , and the other one is the newborn Greece embodied as godess Athena.
The phrase between the images is a short part from Makriyiannis Memoirs , one of the heroes of 1821, in which he basically speaks out about equality and freedom and the right for someone to call Greece his home, his Patrida.
